More Than Just A “Pipe Dream”

Did the cast-iron block, triple-turbo Cummins in Jeremy Yeager’s Super Stock puller explode, or is he pulling the trigger on a billet engine? It looks like the latter is the case, with Chaos Fabrication posting this shot last week while hinting that it was engine transplant time for the “Pipe Dream” Chevy. Chaos is best known for building high-end, component chassis tractors for the Super Stock and Pro Stock classes, but the company is no stranger to building and working on 4x4 Super Stock diesel trucks—and they do a lot of the work on Jeremy’s pride and joy. We can’t wait to see how Jeremy’s new billet power plant performs this season.

Another Super Stock Truck Is On The Horizon…

Speaking of Super Stock diesel trucks, Proformance Pros is piecing together another Duramax-powered, IFS-equipped GMC HD at the present time. The company leaked a shot of its welder in the process of building motor mounts for the V-8 over the weekend, which naturally sparked a boatload of interest on social media. So far, we know the truck is being built for a newcomer to the sport, which means the Super Stock class will grow to include even more trucks in 2025. Rumor has it that an all-aluminum Wagler DX460 could power it, perhaps even something similar to the P-pumped work of art that gets Cummins Killer III down the track.

Canceled: 2025 SPE Outlaw Finals

Unfortunately, the Snyder Performance Engineering Outlaw Finals event, set to be held once again at Keystone Raceway Park, has been canceled. A packed 2025 schedule at the New Alexandria, Pennsylvania track left no additional dates for the season-ending Outlaw Diesel Super Series race to be booked. With many racers and fans looking forward to returning to the venue that hosted some of the fastest side-by-side diesel races ever recorded last September, all might not be lost for diesel drag racing in PA. Rest assured; this isn’t a goodbye. SPE plans to step into a sponsorship role with ODSS this year and continue to be actively involved in ODSS racing for the foreseeable future.

Emissions Deregulation - Is it finally here?

We've all heard the rumors about EPA changes under the new administration, and the EPA has finally released a statement saying what that will mean moving forward. Now, what that means exactly is yet to be seen as the actual implementation of the 31 proposed changes could go many ways. With such massive changes potentially on the horizon, sorry, but we're not going to speculate here one bit, we'll leave that to you to decide what this may mean (but it does look promising). Here's the official release from the EPA:  https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-launches-biggest-deregulatory-action-us-history

Fire In The Hole

Hardway Performance’s Ryan Milliken is no stranger to fireworks on the dyno, and this time he brought Enrique Gonzalez, owner of the twin-turbo Duramax Colorado, with him. Unfortunately, the TH400’s gearset cut loose on the hub dyno, cracking the ATI Performance case in the process. Milliken and Gonzalez were horsepower hunting for the upcoming Battle of the Thrones event when the mayhem occurred. Gonzalez and his nitrous-huffing, midsize Chevy have been regulars on the N/T Pro Truck scene lately, and the little, rear-wheel drive Colorado has been as quick as 4.68 at 154 mph through the eighth-mile in the past.

A Diesel Chevette In The 10’s

We never thought we’d see anything like this, but here it is: the world’s fastest diesel-powered Chevette. It belongs to Joe Harris of Indiana, and it was built not only to obliterate the quarter-mile but compete in drag-and-drive events like Sick Week. Powered by a Mercedes OM606, the 3.0L I-6 diesel of old that’s earned a reputation for holding up to big power on stock internals, Joe pushed his 1979 Chevette through the 1320 in 11.05 seconds at 112 mph without locking the converter. With the converter locked, the car dipped into the 10’s with ease. For more on Joe’s wild, out-of-the-box ride, give Freedom Eagle TV a look over on YouTube.
