One of the most important things you can do for your 6.7L Powerstroke is to make sure it has a good, clean supply of fuel to work with. Contaminated fuel, whether from bad fuel or the infamous CP4 failures, will sideline your truck. Without cutting a single corner, we’ve addressed every common fail point, as well as any performance bottlenecks the Ford 6.7 may have.
The 6.7L Powerstroke Fuel System is, other than one very big thing, a very reliable and efficient system. It utilizes piezoelectric injectors paired with a CP4 high-pressure pump and a low-pressure lift pump located near the tank. The injection pressure for this system is very high, allowing for great performance and efficiency. However, the big issue we mentioned, it has to be remedied for the engine to be reliable long term. Outside that issue there’s a few other little improvements that can be made to further improve performance and reliability.
If there’s any issue that sits above the rest for the 6.7, it’s the high pressure fuel pump. The 6.7 Powerstroke fuel system utilizes a CP4 fuel pump, which, due to higher temperatures and tighter tolerances than most, is very susceptible to failure. When the CP4 fails, it’ll take out your entire fuel system with it due to the metal contamination it sends through the injectors, lift pump, and everything else. The fix is an ounce of prevention every fill-up (aka a fuel additive) and a disaster prevention kit to filter any of that metal contamination out before it infects the rest of the system if/when the CP4 does eventually fail. The SPE Motorsport Disaster Prevention Kit is a bolt-on system engineered for filtration first and foremost, with a design that allows for an easier and cleaner install than others on the market today. Only the best components have been used in its construction.
Improvements to the 6.7 fuel system don’t end there.
SPE Motorsport 6.7L Powerstroke Fuel Filter System replaces the factory installed fuel filters (there’s two of them) with higher capacity and better filtering CAT filters. This system also moves the upper filter from the engine bay to under the vehicle, making fuel filter changes much easier and less messy.
The OE installed 6.7L Powerstroke fuel drain valve is a plastic part that will crack and fail eventually. If you don’t have a spare, you’re stuck till you get one. Our Billet Fuel Drain Valve eliminates this failure-prone item.
For the performance minded individual, we offer higher flowing injectors and a high flowing 10MM CP4.2 stroker pump capable of big horsepower. And for those who need even more fuel, the SPE Motorsport Dual Fueler kit allows for the addition of a CP3 fuel pump essentially doubling the fuel available.
We also offer many Genuine Factory Ford replacement parts such as fuel lines, OE filters, and more.
