Cleetus McFarland Bought Another Track

It's official, Cleetus McFarland just bought a 50% share of Bradenton Motorsports Park. Now five years ago Cleetus bought The Freeedom Factory and Bradenton Motorsports Park BMP) is essentially on the same piece of land. The Freedom Factory shares an entire border with the BMP left return lane at the end of the dragstrip. So this purchase just makes perfect sense. The two facilities can now fully support each other. In a world where tracks are closing down more than they're opening up, it's great to see facilities like these grow so quickly.

Exergy Pins Its LML CP4.2’s

Speaking of Bosch CP4.2 failure, it’s a common problem on the LML Duramax, too. To ensure its customers get the best factory replacement high-pressure fuel pump money can buy, Exergy Performance recently updated its Improved Stock CP4.2 for ’11-’16 GM’s. Key upgrades include pinned buckets (so the buckets can’t rotate in their bores) and larger, 12mm rollers (vs. 10mm OEM) to decrease stress at the cam-to-roller interface. And, just as it did before, the Improved Stock CP4.2 comes with the Exergy System Saver Inlet Metering Valve standard—the company’s two-layer, 10-micron inlet screen in place of the factory single layer, 85-micron inlet screen.

The Unofficial “First” Drag Race of 2025

While indoor truck pulling has taken over as the only real on-track action in diesel motorsports right now, it won’t be long before warmer weather hits and compression-ignition takes to the drag strip again. One of the first events of 2025, Diesel Truck Wars, will commence on March 29th at Northeast Dragway in Hertford, North Carolina. Five classes will run that Saturday, including an Outlaw Diesel and a Singles Elite category, both of which are heads-up classes paying out more than $2,000 to the winner. Strong side-by-side racing will also be had in the 6.70 Index, 7.70 Index, and ET Bracket categories.

Gnarly 6.4L Lifter Failure

There is just something special about those 6.4L Power Strokes… All or nothing, when they run, they run hard. But when they fail, they seem to fail even harder. This colossal lifter failure is brought to you by Zeigler Diesel Performance, and you might be asking yourself “where’s the roller?” An educated guess here is that most of it ended up in the oil pump. Either way, the cam and cam bearings are guaranteed to be toast, and the Navistar-built V-8 is coming out of the truck for a full teardown followed by a mandatory rebuild.

Ford F-Series Earns Best-Selling Truck For 48th Consecutive Year

Ford’s retail sales grew at a pace that doubled the rest of the automotive industry in 2024—and it was led in large part due to truck sales. For the 48th straight year, the automaker’s F-series remained America’s best-selling truck. In Q4, retail sales gained 17-percent, driving full-year 2024 gains of 6-percent, or double the rate of the estimated, broader overall industry. The aforementioned 17-percent gain Q4 came on the heels of an impressive, 25-percent retail gain in F-series. As 2024 came to a close, Ford’s F-series numbers were up 21-percent for the year.
