Daimler Truck North America is one of the largest commercial truck manufacturers on the planet. Due to new regulations, it can no longer sell its trucks within the State of Oregon, effective immediately. At least, that's what Daimler says. Oregon seems to have a different outlook. According to our research, Oregon, California, and 10 other states have adopted a new set of identical rules. Each state has decided to follow them in the same way, making compliance much easier for manufacturers. Daimler seems to believe that Oregon is following the rules in a manner different from California and the other states involved. A Daimler spokesperson issued this statement: “The note we’ve received from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality staff indicates that they are implementing key provisions of the Advanced Clean Trucks rule differently than California... Unfortunately, that difference leaves us unable to predict our credit balances in Oregon, and therefore risks our compliance in the state.”
Long story short, until Daimler feels like the regulations in Oregon are worded in a way that follows California, they're out.

Prices are down across the board for gas and diesel, annually. However, in comparison to last month gasoline is still down, by a penny, but diesel is on the rise by 3.2 cents. It's not much, why it's happening is what's interesting. Multiple sources are pointing at Russia, more so at the US's sanctions on Russia, but it's not that simple. There have been new sanctions implemented recently but experts say what's really causing the fuel cost change is "dark vessels". Russia, amongst everyone else, uses ships to move their oil around the globe. Sanctions stemming from the war in Ukraine have stopped Russia from being able to ship its oil. Ships use a system called AIS (automatic identification system) to broadcast their position, name, direction and speed. A "dark vessel" simply does not have AIS, or has chosen to turn it off to remain undetected. In an effort to enforce the sanctions, these dark vessels are being targeted now as a list of over 150 vessels in the "dark fleet" have been identified.
It's indoor truck pull season! And the first of 2025 took place over the weekend in Lexington Kentucky. The 2025 Kentucky Invitational featured the big hitters with Hot Farm, Light Limited Super Stock tractors, Super Modifieds, 3.0 Diesel Trucks, and Pro Street Semi’s to round out the evening. If you've never been to an indoor sled pull, you need to put it on your list. They're unlike any other pull. And it looks like TNT (the promoter that put on the Kentucky Invitational) is having their next indoor pull this February in Tennessee.

“The most exciting enthusiast-focused turbocharged Mustang ever,” was the official word from Ford on the new RTR Mustang. The new model will be a partnership between Ford racer Vaughn Gittin Jr and Ford. It will take its enhancements from many existing models, including the Darkhorse, which makes perfect sense from a cost and performance perspective. What else the new Mustang will be remains to be seen. Ford has been very quiet about its details. The Detroit Auto Show is this month, lets hope they reveal more details then. We're excited for the day when this new V6 twin turbo Mustang hits the dealer lots, as it will offer up a much lower price level (compared to a GTD or Darkhorse) for enthusiasts looking to get into the performance world and, hopefully, racing.

Last week, Donald Trump randomly called Bill Ford, Ford's Executive Chair. With so many policy changes slated to happen under the new President's administration, what the two talked about, we're sure wasn't regarding Trump's delayed Super Duty order... As per our sources, and via Ford, the two talked about what Trump has learned in his last few years off regarding the auto industry and the country's need for more of it. Ford was quoted saying: "He’s had a few years to think about the importance of a strong industrial base. His knowledge today is way superior to what it was when he came in the first term.” Ford followed up by saying he's confident Ford Motor Company will "have a seat at the table". Long story short, and pushing aside all the speculation so many news outlets are publishing right now, everything we've read points to Ford having a very positive outlook for the automotive industry and the new administration's future relationship.
The Original Batmobile; A 2024 Raptor R; Something that never was, an F150 Raptor Hybrid; Starsky And Hutch Gran Torino film car; An 8k mile 1996 Bronco; and Sammy Hagar's 1962 Galaxy. That's one heck of a week for auctions on Bring A Trailer and Barrett Jackson. Here's some details on the really interesting ones:
The Hybrid Raptor, something that was never offered from Ford, is a 2022 3.5L hybrid model F150, to which the owner added a "Pax Power Raptor Conversion Kit". Yeah it's just a modified F150, but man it looks like it came from the factory that way.
The Batmobile up for grabs is not a knock off but a true George Barris build based on a 1966 Ford Galaxie, and it was used in production of the original TV series. Of course, the TV show had several Batmobiles; this one, in particular, is #3.
Sammy Hagar's 1962 T-Bird is a fully and recently restored car with some serious history with the band Van Halen. Hagar will be driving the car onto the auction block himself, with a portion of the sale going toward suicide prevention.
